QR code on license plates in Turkey

Alanya today, January 13, 2024.

The change in vehicle license plates came into force in Turkey on January 1st, 2024.

According to the new rules, every vehicle must be equipped with a QR code.

The fine for using a fake license plate is 32,170 TL, while falsifying official documents is punishable by a prison sentence of 2 to 5 years.

There will be no change to the license plates currently in use and they will continue to be used.

A 15 x 15 mm QR code and a 12-digit serial number are engraved horizontally between the provincial code and the letter group.

The QR code on the license plate provides all the necessary information about the owner of the car.
