Turkey's most populous city, Istanbul, has taken the first step in recruiting female firefighters.
50 women and 200 men (Sabah) took part in the qualifying competition for the firefighter's place.
In the current year another 500 employees will be hired.
The employment rate for women in Turkey is 32%. The government is working to improve employment opportunities for women.
